  • My Dash Cam is not illuminated, Why?
A fuse may have blown, please contact us so we can arrange a service call.
  • My dash cam is getting very hot, is this normal?
Yes especially with the HD files, the continuous recording combined with continuous power causes the dash cam to heat up. Our design within the dash cam is set to ensure this heat dissipates as quickly as possible, therefore not causing any damage to the dash cam or SD card. They are tested to up +50 °C, please note car interiors can exceed this if left in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time.
  • How do I get the SD card out of the Dash Cam?
You will need the orange security tool left with you at the time of installation. This is a triangle shape small screwdriver. On the side of the dash cam there is a triangular slot allowing a small turn to open it. PLEASE MAKE SURE THE VEHICLE IGNITION IS OFF FOR 30 SECONDS BEFORE REMOVING THE SD CARD. A small press of the SD card will allow the SD card to spring back towards you so that you are able to remove it. When replacing please take note of the way it came out. You can then GENTLY push this into the slot. You will feel some resistance. This is the spring accepting the SD card . It will click into place
  • How is the footage secured and stored on Sheridan Installs' driver safety cameras?
At Sheridan Installs, we prioritize the security and reliability of the footage captured by our driver safety cameras. All footage is recorded directly onto an SD Card, which is housed in an enclosed and tamper-proof area within the Dash Camera. This design ensures that the recorded data is protected from unauthorized access and potential tampering, providing you with peace of mind that your valuable video evidence remains intact and secure. This setup not only enhances the durability of the camera system but also maintains the integrity of the recorded footage, making it an ideal solution for ensuring driver safety and vehicle security.
  • What should I do if my dash cam's GPS signal is not working properly after installation?
If your dash cam's GPS signal is experiencing issues after installation by Sheridan Installs, it may be due to interference from other devices or systems in your vehicle, such as a heated front windscreen. We recommend testing the dash cam outside the vehicle to determine if the problem persists. The GPS receiver is located inside the windscreen side of the unit, which is critical for optimal signal reception. If we have installed the unit, rest assured that we thoroughly tested it during commissioning. Should the problem continue outside of the vehicle, please contact Sheridan Installs for further assistance.
  • Why is the speed different on my vehicle dash camera to my car speedometer?
The calculation of speed is based upon GPS position and hence distance travelled over time taken. This is a complicated algorithm and there may indeed be some discrepancy between devices, as it is a calculated speed, not an actual speed as measured by your road wheels. In our tests, once multiple satellites have been located the speed is accurate to within 5%. Normally however, vehicle manufacturers always tend to be optimistic in their display of speed.
  • Why don’t my files play correctly on the computer?
Please ensure that you have the latest version of our CMV6 software. This can be downloaded from the HERE. Please note that the minimum recommended requirements for Replay 3 are Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 or Mac OS X 10.9 or higher, Processor: Intel Core i5, Memory: 4GB, Display resolution: 1280 x 720 or higher.
  • Who do I e-mail to get the video files recovered remotely and what do you need?
You can simply fill out our request video footage form. Click here for the direct link. We will need the date and exact time of the incident. We also need some details about what happened so we can get all of the footage required. The benefit of using this method is that insurance companies will struggle to say you edited the footage to your own benefit when it comes directly from us. We will need you to turn the ignition on inside the vehicle to allow us to remote access the footage.
